The Name “Community of the Cross”
In 1975, when I first received the call from Jesus Christ to build this place of prayer, equipping and sending, I just called it “Jesus Abbey II in North Carolina”. I had no other name and also was very dependent on the model of Jesus Abbey to understand what it was that Jesus wanted. After going through the wilderness, however, I died to that name and actually to the vision. The Holy Spirit spoke a new name to Laura in 1979; it was “The Community of the Cross”. This is was what we were told to pray into reality. “A place of Encounter with Jesus Christ” was added in the year 2000 when I was back at Jesus Abbey and the Lord clearly said that it was to be a “Place of Encounter with Jesus Christ for Prayer, Equipping, and Sending in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
An Invitation to Share in Fulfilling the Vision for Building the Community of the Cross
The photo above shows the PRMI Ministry Team in Black Mountain, praying for God’s provision for building facilities and guidance in developing the program for the Community of the Cross.
We are most excited about the way God is enabling the fulfillment of the vision of the Community of the Cross. We have already experienced miracles of Jesus’ presence and reality. He is the One building the Community and calling us to cooperate with Him in fulfilling the vision of this being a place for prayer, equipping and sending.
The Master Plan for the Community of the Cross.
The master Plan for the Community of the Cross includes new office building, new meeting space, a new prayer house, and new housing units to accomodate up to 75 people on site.
Currently, the existing Log House, the Prayer Porch/ Prayer Deck, Ascension Point, and one housing unit ( being used as the PRMI office) are constructed on site.
Please join with us in praying in the rest of these facilities!

The Holy Spirit Empowers
By: Philip J. Noordmans
"Usually books on the Holy Spirit have good theology and biblical teaching, but render the Third Person of the Trinity impersonal, dull, and dry. They do not draw us into the author’s lived experience. Or, they are full of exciting experiences with the Holy Spirit, but they do not help us build a good biblical and theological foundation for understanding and cooperating with the Holy Spirit. This book is a masterpiece of doing both. As you read, you will grow in personal experience as well as biblical understanding!" ~ Dr. Brad Long, Executive Director of PRMI
